Learn employment skills and participate in an internship in a hospital.

Classroom time: 
3 weeks (plus one week internship)
Topics covered: 

Soft skills, computer training, effective resume, internet job search, answers for a tough job interview, effective workplace communication, professionalism, diversity in the workplace.

Length: 
4 weeks 8 Am – 4:30 PM
Stipend: 
$6.50/hr
Internship: 

1 week to be introduced to work setting and connect with potential employers

How to apply: 

Complete an application in person M–F, between 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the PPL Learning Center.
Attend an Information Session, held every other Monday at 9:00 AM. (No appointment required – call the front desk at 612-455-5300 to check which Mondays).
Complete the Test of Adult Education with a score at or above the sixth grade level.
Pass career specific tests, such as a 10-key typing test or a nursing assistant assessment.
Interview with staff, and pass background and reference checks.
