Anishinabe Wakiagun

Established in 1996, Anishinabe Wakiagun is the result of a unique collaboration of community agencies and activists. It is the nation’s first wet/dry house to serve the American Indian community, and is located in the culturally diverse environment of south Minneapolis.

Health care services, room and board, case management and enrichment activities are offered to residents of this 40-room group residential housing facility. Anishinabe Wakiagun (or “The People’s Home” in the Ojibwa language) is nestled off Franklin Avenue and Hiawatha on spacious landscaped grounds. Next to to the American Indian Community Center and the Hiawatha light-rail transit ( Franklin Station) it is walking distance to shops, busline, restaurants, Seward Co-op, libraries and parks.
