Partnership Academy
offers a wonderful opportunity for academic achievement. Like
most schools, Partnership Academy has many unique aspects. You
as a parent are asked to consider the uniqueness of Partnership
Academy to ensure it is the right school for your child.
To help you make your
decision, we encourage you to tour the school, and to meet with
a Partnership Academy representative to discuss the school further.
We are very proud of the curriculum and school design, which are
described in detail in the curriculum brochures. Detailed
information about the curriculum is also available on the school's

Some
of Partnership Academy's Special Features |
Uniforms:
Students are required to wear uniforms at Partnership Academy.
Longer
Day: Students spend 7.5 hours a day at Partnership Academy.
The longer school day offers more time for student learning.
QLCs:
Formal Quarterly Learning Contracts are held four
times during the school year. QLCs provide an explicit account of
how each student's academic work measures against expectations.
Parents, students and teachers come together to plan how each can
better support the students' academic progress. Parental attendance
is required.
SFA:
The Success For All reading curriculum is used
at Partnership Academy. The entire school devotes 90 minutes each
day to the reading program. Students are grouped by levels and assessed
for progress every 6-8 weeks. Parent support is an essential component
of SFA. Parents support the learning process by having their child
read at home for 20 minutes each day. |
About
Charter Schools |
In
1991, Minnesota was the first state in the nation to authorize charter
schools (then called Outcome-Based Schools). The law permits teachers,
parents and other community members to form and operate independe
schools. To promote innovation, these schools are exempt from many
statues and rules governing school districts but are held accountable
for results.
Partnership
Academy is a Charter School. It is an independent public school,
and a member of the state's public education system. It is overseen
by a board made up of parents and teachers. As a parent, you are
welcome to attend Partnership Academy's board meetings, and to get
involved in the school's governance. |
