About the school
MERC is an alternative high school with an emphasis on attendance, respect and setting goals. The staff is committed to helping students obtain their diploma and set goals for their future.

Curriculum Focus/courses
MERC has the same core curriculum credit requirements and graduation standards as the Minneapolis Public School system. Students who graduate from MERC receive a diploma from their home school in the Minneapolis system as well as participate in our own Alternative School graduation celebration.

Courses include English, social studies, math, science, job preparation, college preparation, computer skills, physical education, health, and creative problem solving and others. The average class size at MERC is 14-16 students.

Program Strengths
MERC offers a safe, caring environment, small class sizes, a counselor, a dedicated staff, and mentorship within the building, which enhance the student’s success in jobs, community involvement and college.
