Recent highlights:
- Ther recent interior and exterior renovations of 48 housing units in seven south Minneapolis buildings enhance residents’ lives and add to each community’s overall strength.
- 85 new units house low-income families, many who have suffered long-term homelessness.
- Two computer labs with an employment focus are open to the public and offer free workshops and one-to-one training.
- PPL and Loring-Nicollet Bethlehem Community Centers merged to broaden and deepen programs and services for all participants.
PPL Results
- PPL has excelled in the field of affordable housing and community development since 1972, and developed more that 1,500 housing units in the Twin Cities metro area.
- In the 800+ units of quality, affordable rental housing PPL owns or manages, residents took advantage of year-round youth programming, life skills workshops, and community building events. Many families received more specific support services that address long-term homelessness, chemical dependency and mental illness.
- Last year, 4,000 adults tackled job-related goals through our classroom instruction, counseling, and PPL-operated businesses.
- Each year, 1,350 students, from toddler-age to high school, are connected to resources and relationships to help them succeed in school and in life, including a full-time preschool, a charter elementary school, two alternative high schools, and numerous mentor programs that meet twice or more weekly.
