Partnership Academy Charter School

Partnership Academy is an independent public charter school, and a member of the state's public education system, overseen by a board consisting of the school's parents and teachers and community members.  As a charter school, Partnership Academy is held accountable for results while still having the flexibility to be innovated and offer curriculum with an emphasis on reading, math and parent and community involvement

Partnership Academy serves K-6 Minnesota residents. There is no tuition fee or entrance exam.  Student population is culturally diverse and draws from many neighborhoods.  Approximately 93% of the students are low-income eligible for free/reduce lunch program.  In 2006-07 we estimate 86% of the students will be English Language Learners (Spanish).

Partnership Academy values the individual and collective wisdom of its staff, teachers, parents, students and community.

Longer Day:  

• Students spend 7 hours a day at Partnership Academy.  The longer school day offers more time for student learning.
• Full-day Kindergarten:  
• We provide a full day of classes for our kindergarten students to help ensure a great educational start.

Formal Quarterly Learning Contracts are held four times during the school year to ensure frequent communication between parents and teachers.  QLCs provide explicit account of how student academic work measures against expectations.  Parents, students, and teachers come together to develop plan of how each can better support the students' academic progress.  Parental attendance is required.

Success For All reading curriculum is used at Partnership Academy School.  The entire school devotes 90 minutes each day to the reading program.  Students are grouped by levels and assessed for progress every 6-8 weeks.  An essential component of SFA includes parents supporting the learning process by having their child read at home 20 minutes each day.

Partner/Sponsor:

PPL believes that great schools integrate community and parent involvement and works to achieve this at Partnership Academy through the Community Partners Program.  PPL manages volunteers and integrates creative programming into the school.  PPL is Partnership Academy's legal sponsor.
