Throughout the school year, students can take part in a variety of tutoring programs that offer strong mentor relationships, help from a licensed teachers, and enrichment activities foster social acumen and civic awareness. Participants may join one of these programs for the entire school year.
Homework ‘n’ Hoops- Young students are paired with a mentor twice a week throughout the school year for homework help, enrichment activities, and recreation time at the PPL Bethlehem Community Center. Open to youth from Whittier and surrounding neighborhoods.
PPL Scholars Young students develop academically and socially in a caring environment. Activities bring them together with parents, teachers, volunteers and PPL AmeriCorps. Open to participants in all PPL service areas, including Partnership Academy.
College House – Young students are paired with college students who are living in a PPL-managed building, each serving as a tutor and positive role model throughout the school year. (more…)
Lunch and Reading Buddies Once a week, throughout the year, students meet with same volunteer for lunch or reading.
