ACCELERATE

Minimum of 3 months Virtual Training

 

Fast-track to career success with this customizable training program, and learn valuable transferable skills that will help you gain confidence in any career.

What to Expect
  • PPL Career Center's first self-paced program!
  • Begin with basic computer and job readiness skills workshops, now tailored to help you keep up with the changes COVID has caused in our workforce.
  • Access essential soft skills workshops, including: Critical Thinking, Conflict Resolution, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Curriculum.
  • Upon successfully completing workshops, you 'unlock' a number of PPL's exclusive training opportunities, such as: mock interviews with industry professionals, the National Retail Federation customer service certification, one year of Employment and Financial Coaching, and more!
  • No cost to you.
Career Paths
  • Potential positions with any employer partners of PPL's who are currently hiring, or other local employers! Positions will depend on prior experience.
Eligibility
  • 18+ years old.
  • Household income at or under 200% of the Annual Federal Poverty Guideline.

Building Operations Technician

8.5 Months

Prepare for the responsibility of repairs and upkeep of heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems in commercial or residential buildings.

What to Expect
  • 2-week hands-on work experience with one of PPL's employer partners such as Hennepin County, the State of MN, Sherman Associates, CSM, PPL, and the City of Minneapolis.
  • Opportunity to take the Special Boiler Operator licensing exam, to allow for career-laddering opportunities.
  • Evening classes.
  • No cost to you.

Expand your computer and professional skills for a career helping others in Human Services.

What to Expect
  • Take online classes in the evening.
  • 30 hour job shadow with Hennepin, Ramsey, and Dakota Counties. (May be subject to change due to COVID-19.)
  • Earn credits from Normandale Community College upon completion. 
  • No cost to you.

  • Human Services Representative

5 Months

Learn the skills necessary to become certified as a Paraprofessional for Bloomington Public Schools.

What to Expect
  • Get an introduction to the education system and prepare for the ParaPro exam with Normandale Community College. 
  • Evening classes.

  • Elevated Paraprofessional
  • Gain valuable experience for a potential future career as a teacher!

Pharmacy Technician

5.5 Months Virtual Training

Learn the knowledge, skills, and professionalism that will prepare you to fill prescriptions and support pharmacy staff and clientele.

What to Expect
  • Learn Pharmacy Technician policies and procedures with online Minneapolis College and PPL courses.
  • Complete a 80 hour paid externship with one of our employer partners: CVS Pharmacy, Hennepin Health, and Walgreens.
  • NRF certification and registration with the Board of Pharmacy.
  • Evening classes.
  • No cost to you.
Career Paths
  • Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting
  • Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or clinic
  • Lead Technician
  • Pharmacist
