After more than 20 years of suffering from a panic disorder and raising her children on her own, Christine Jost was ready to pursue a career of her own. She joined PPL's Career Readiness Phlebotomy training program in 2025 without recent work experience and quickly became a standout participant. After completing the program, she began working as a Laboratory Care Technician at M Health Fairview. These steps have been significant for Christine as she’s continued working towards economic independence for herself and her family.
Christine’s progress has inspired the people around her, showing what can happen when someone continues moving forward despite obstacles. Her experience has given her a simple message for others beginning their own journeys: keep going, even when challenges get in the way.
“If you truly want it, don’t give up,” Christine says. “Because it can happen. If it happened for me, it can happen for anybody.”
Christine is especially proud of reaching her one-year employment milestone in August 2026. Along the way, she learned to navigate personal challenges and take control of her future. Taking a chance with PPL's Career Pathways program opened the door to a new career and a new chapter for Christine.
“I feel complete,” Christine says. “I have my kids, I have my grandkids, I have a career.”
