Join the trades! Take classes through Bismarck State College while working as an Apprentice at Hennepin Energy Recovery Center (HERC). This opportunity provides experience in OSHA certification, heavy machinery training, and other great technical skills!

About the Program

How does the Earn & Learn model work?

Apprentices will join the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center (HERC) as Operator Apprentices, working 28 hours a week. They will also engage in 12 hours of schoolwork a week through Bismarck State College. Apprentices will earn $33.38 an hour for 40 hours a week.

What will I learn?

During the apprenticeship you will engage in coursework in Power Process Technology. This prepares participants for careers in the operation of modern industrial facilities. Participants will also obtain heavy equipment training and prepare to earn their special boiler's license.

What experiences & opportunities will I get?

Gain hands-on experience training to practice operating the equipment you will use at the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center.

Qualifications for Participation

High school diploma or GED

At least 18 years of age

Driver's license

Legal to work in the United States
