PPL's Statement of Support for Minnesota's Supplemental Budget Proposal

Project for Pride in Living appreciates the emphasis on housing stability and affordability in Minnesota’s supplemental budget proposal. In a year that has required difficult choices and fiscal discipline, the proposal recognizes the real pressures Minnesotans face as housing costs rise, and uncertainty continues at the federal level. The focus on keeping people housed reflects a shared understanding that stable housing is essential to strong families, thriving communities, and a resilient state.

Investments in rental assistance and supportive housing play a critical role in preventing displacement and supporting families and individuals through periods of instability. At PPL, we see housing stability as foundational, not only providing a place to live, but creating a pathway to thrive. Stable housing strengthens individual well-being, supports workforce participation, and contributes to the long-term health and economic vitality of our communities.

At the same time, stability alone will not fully address Minnesota’s long-term housing challenges. Meeting future demand and improving affordability will require increasing the state’s housing supply and continuing smart investments in infrastructure. Consistent, coordinated efforts across public, private, and nonprofit sectors will be necessary to ensure communities across Minnesota have the homes they need—today and in the future.

This proposal represents meaningful progress and underscores the value of ongoing leadership, collaboration, and practical solutions that bring people together around common goals.

This matters. It helps. And sustaining this momentum is essential.
