MINNEAPOLIS — Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is excited to welcome Britta Reitan as Chief Financial Officer. Beginning Oct. 5, Reitan will join the executive leadership team and lead PPL's financial planning and analysis, accounting, information technology and enterprise data functions. She will also oversee the financial performance of PPL's affordable housing portfolio and real estate development, serve as lead staff to the board's Finance and Audit Committee and guide PPL's work with state and local policymakers as executive sponsor of government relations. Reitan brings 20 years of public finance leadership at Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB), the state’s finance agency.

Reitan’s MMB career spans two decades, where she served under three governors, working through 20 legislative sessions and 10 state budget cycles as control of the Legislature shifted among Republican, DFL and divided majorities, including the evenly split House of 2025.

Most recently, Reitan served as MMB’s Deputy Commissioner of Enterprise Finance and Agency Operations, overseeing internal operations at MMB, as well as statewide accounting, payroll, financial reporting and debt management. Reitan also served as State Budget Director from 2018 to 2021, leading the development of the governor’s operating and capital budgets. In her leadership roles, she helped to strategically deploy and maximize federal resources to meet community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic and supported the development of a nationally recognized Results Management practice within MMB. During her tenure, Reitan championed strong fiscal management policies and practices, helping the state achieve the highest bond ratings from all major credit rating agencies and the most robust budget reserve in Minnesota history. Reitan joined MMB in 2006 as an executive budget officer for E-12 education and went on to lead the budget team covering education, public safety, pensions and taxes prior to serving as State Budget Director.

“Britta has spent 20 years making sure public dollars deliver results for Minnesotans, and she has earned the trust of leaders across the political spectrum by bringing them clear, unbiased information,” said Karla Henderson, president and CEO of PPL. “Her experience with forecasting, financial systems and complex budgets with many funding sources is exactly what PPL needs as we grow. She shares our commitment to the communities we walk alongside, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”

“I went into public service because I care about how financial decisions show up in people’s lives,” said Reitan. “PPL’s work to open pathways to solid careers and create stable housing for those in need reflects the values I hold deeply. I look forward to working alongside PPL’s staff, board and partners to put every dollar to work for the individuals and families at the heart of PPL’s mission.”

Reitan holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Olaf College, where she graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She was named one of Finance & Commerce’s Top Women in Finance in 2018 and received the State of Minnesota Achievement Award four times.
