MINNEAPOLIS — Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is excited to welcome Kayla Schuchman as Senior Vice President of Housing Stability. Beginning this role in August, Schuchman will oversee PPL’s housing stability initiatives and collaborate across the organization to expand access to affordable housing, strengthen outcomes for residents and advance the organization’s mission to help build the hope, assets, and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes. Schuchman brings more than two decades of leadership in affordable housing policy, development and homeownership systems across Minnesota.
Currently, Schuchman serves as Minnesota Housing’s Assistant Commissioner, Single Family, where she leads a division of approximately 70 staff to expand access to homeownership through counseling, lending and downpayment assistance programs. Schuchman previously served as Director of Housing for the City of Saint Paul, launching the city's Housing Trust Fund and leading affordable housing planning for the 122-acre Highland Bridge redevelopment, and as a project manager at CommonBond Communities, where she supported the development of affordable housing across the state.

As Senior Vice President of Housing Stability and a member of the executive leadership team, Schuchman will bring her collaborative leadership to the Housing Stability division, guiding the real estate development, asset management, property management and resident services teams.

Schuchman holds a master's degree in public policy from the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs and a bachelor's degree in economics from Macalester College. She holds a Housing Development Finance Professional certification through the National Development Council, has served as a director on several nonprofit boards and was named a 40 under 40 honoree by the Minneapolis/Saint Paul Business Journal in 2021.
